Deuteronomy 8:1-10 Translation

8:1 The whole commandment which I’m commanding you (מְצַוְּךָ֛) today you should be careful to do in order that you shall live and you be great and you go into and you possess the land which YHWH himself swore to your fathers.

8:2 And you will remember (וְזָכַרְתָּ֣) the whole way which YHWH your God has led you these 40 years in the wilderness in order to humble you to test you to know whether it [is] in your heart to keep his commandments or not.

8:3 And he humbled you (וַיַּרְעִבֶךָ֒) and let you hunger and caused you to eat manna which you did not know and neither your fathers know in order to cause you to know that not upon bread alone shall man live but upon all that goes forth from the mouth of YHWH shall man live.

8:4 Your clothes did not wear out upon you nor did your foot swell these 40 years.

8:5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, YHWH your God is disciplining you.

8:6 So keep the commandment of YHWH your God to walk in his ways and to fear him.

8:7 For YHWH your God is bringing you to a good land, a land of brooks of water, springs and fountains going out in the valleys and hills,

8:8 a land of wheat and barley and vines and figs and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey,

8:9 a land which without scarcity you shall eat bread, nor shall you lack anything

8:10 And you should eat and be satisfied and you should bless YHWH your God for the good land he gave you.
